Before I share my experience with the bag itself, I want to share my experience in purchasing the bag. I'm an American currently living in Spain, and there were some delivery issues with my order. Dylan (Almond Oak Founder) went above and beyond to solve the issue—not only did he get a new bag shipped to me, but he also found a new delivery service here in Spain to make sure I received it!! Truly amazing Customer Service—Thank You, Dylan!!
Now onto the bag itself. I just returned from a 16-day trip involving four cities, two countries, one train ride, two plane rides, and two bus rides. Besides a small sling, the Almond Oak was my only bag. It was packed to its full capacity. It got shoved under seats on planes, thrown into overhead shelves on buses, and set on a few questionable surfaces. And, I'm happy to say, it performed to perfection, and it still looks brand new! One of the main reasons I purchased the Almond Oak Backpack was the weight. I am a petite 5'2" female who is also a weakling and could never lift my fully packed bags on the overhead shelves. Even with the Almond Oak packed out (including a 13" MacBook Air), I had no problem lifting and maneuvering the bag anywhere it needed to go. And, it was always comfortable to wear, even when I was climbing multiple flights of stairs. Multi-city travel can be stressful, but with the Almond Oak Backpack, it was so enjoyable.
While I'm curious what V2 of the Backpack will be like, it's hard for me to imagine it being better than V1, which is serving my needs so well. For me, the weight is by far the most important feature, and I truly hope Dylan is able to keep the weight down as that is the feature (to me at least) that really makes this bag special and set it apart from the other one-bag choices out there.
